A media lynching

Glad you updated the post. It wasn’t the media that nixed the deal. It was the owners and commish. BTW Goodell is known to lean right and his wife works at Fox News. Most NFL owners I have met don’t strike me as liberals.

Mark Cuban got “lynched” too when he tried to buy the Cubs. Apparently his past antics didn’t sit well with MLB. Same thing happened to Rush. The owners are snobs.

I was pulling for Rush to get the team. Then I was pulling for the Rams to play the Eagles. McNabb vs Rush would have been some great TV!

I was going to let this pass

http://www.examiner.com/x-5738-St-Louis-Political-Buzz-Examiner~y2009m7d29-Video–Michelle-Malkin-attacks-First-Lady-Michelle-Obama-calling-her-a-crony

Do you think comments like these help the Republican cause? I happen to think her comments like this about the Prez, his WIFE, and a Republican senator (who is about as conservative as they come i.e. pro war, pro life, anti-gay marriage, Bush tax cuts, supporter of McCain Palin etc) cause for more harm to the Republican cause than it does to those like Olbermann who retaliate with shots aimed at her.

When I see Malkin, who granted his very tame compared to Coulter, along with Beck and Limbaugh and Hanity, hate and fear mongering everyday about how the country is ruined I don’t think they are doing anything other than stoking a fringe element (Tea Baggers) to rise up and get angry. I don’t think it is helping the republican party come up with ideas or solutions to help move the country forward.

And NO, I don’t think Obama is above taking some heat. There are plenty of places to make genuine points about his ideas and proposed policies. These circus clowns are too busy worried about Obama telling school kids to study hard and ONE school in New Jersey singing a song about Obama during black history month and other pointless drivel to even care.

If Bush were still president they would be touting how the stock market is back over 10,000 today and how the “liberal media” continues to say the economy is bad as a way to hurt the president. And they would say, as Hanity used to when someone questioned the wars, “When was the last time we were attacked?”

Fair and Balanced.

No wonder it feels like home

They are eating their own here now:

Pot, meet kettle

No, I don’t read her but I watch Fox News all the time and she is a regular. She used to do Bill-O’s show now she’s mostly on Hanity. Clearly she has an agenda. I mean she released a book about “Obama’s culture of corruption” that he apparently created in just six months. Meanwhile she never so much as raised an eyebrow over any of the Bush scandals. She is right up there with the Beck’s and Limbaugh’s of the world in my opinion.

Malkin and company are your parties Michael Moore. Remember when the Dem’s stupidly aligned with him in 2004? I knew then the Dem’s were screwed. If the Republican party doesn’t distance itself from people like Malkin I don’t think its going to matter what Obama does the next four years.

It reminds me of the Dem’s in 2004. It was all Bush bashing and no solutions. Republicans should take note.

Olbermann may be a hypocrite but that is an apt description of Michelle Malkin.

Ok, I think I fixed the problem

Much better. I think LTG goes into lockdown if you post more than three anti-Obama blogs in a day. 🙂

Best Actor

This was the moment I stopped caring about the Oscars:

“And the winner for best picture is…TITANIC!”

11 Oscars for that crap?

“I’M THE KING OF THE WORLD!!!!!”

We need a death panel for actors like Leonardo DiCaprio. I might have to put Celine Dion in there for good measure.

On a somewhat more serious note, who cares that Obama won the Nobel. Yes, a strong case can be made that he didn’t do anything to deserve it but so what? Does it hurt the US? Does it make us less safe? Hurt the economy? It tells us what we all already know: Obama is popular across the world. Beats getting shoes tossed at you I suppose. But so what?

Now I’d like him to get to work please.

» Posted By Kevin On 13/October/2009 @ 12:24 am

With friends like these…

I’ve never been a fan of his work. Aside from The Pianist I think his movies stink.

» Posted By Kevin On 09/October/2009 @ 7:53 am

Let’s bring back “cash for clunkers”

Yikes.

My vote would be take the troops out of Iraq and have a surge in Afghanistan. Obama needs to listen to McChrystal and not Biden.

I don’t know how we are supposed to “win” though. I haven’t understood that for eight years in Iraq or Affhanistan. To me, we should have declared victory and gotten out about six years ago. Go in, kick some ass and say, “we will be back if you screw up again.”

With that said, if I was Obama, I would declare victory in Iraq, give credit to Bush and the surge and then have another surge in Afganistan, kick some serious ass for about six months and declare victory again and get back home.

We just can’t afford to stay there for another eight years.

» Posted By Kevin On 09/October/2009 @ 4:07 am

That’s actually pretty funny.

The idea might have been better if they actually made people buy AMERICAN cars. I think Japan is happy with the idea.

» Posted By Kevin On 07/October/2009 @ 8:46 am

Pathetic

Duke, I am in no way kicking John’s ass at darts. Its been about two years since we played. Maybe longer. The last time we played were were on the worst board in Columbia, SC and I think he was stuck with my sister on his team. I think he did to me what you usually do for him-took it very easy on me. From what I gather his skills have improved greatly since the last time we played.

I enjoy throwing darts but is it normal that I actually thow BETTER after 4-6 beers? Anything under or over that number and I stink.

» Posted By Kevin On 09/October/2009 @ 3:29 am

Awww, thank you Lauren. You a swetheart. Behind every strong man…

I promise to behave.

And as for darts, I wonder if John remembers the last time we played and who won. 🙂

I go by Kevin everyday but I am glad you found the suggestions helpful. I figured you would.

And you are right, I’ve had some great examples to learn from which is why you don’t see me insulting you, your family, your line of work or lowering myself to name calling. I was taught that is rude. Usually, when people get frustrated because they are unable to make their point they turn to petty name calling and insults. It isn’t rocket science.

As for the “real job” suggestion, I am holding out for one of Obama’s next czar post. I think he has about 30 left to fill and I may have in inside track on one of them.

» Posted By Kevin On 08/October/2009 @ 12:01 am

I am going to give Obama some time to before I judge him on Afghanistan. We’ve been there eight years and it may take longer than a few months to come up with an new strategy. As Russia knows, it isn’t easy to win long drawn out wars there. But something must be done. I’ve told you my biggest beef with Obama is he is all talk and no action. I’m still waiting on him to do something other than make a speech. He and Bush are just alike other than Obama makes much better speeches, is more liked and apparently plans to outspend him. Unless he gets it together he will be the next Jimmy Carter. I don’t want him to fail and I haven’t given up on him but he has to start showing me something here. And soon.

What scares me is there is no one on the right that I see offering up a good alternative. In my opinion Bush should have never won a second term but when John Kerry is your only other choice it kind of limits things. If only it were John McCain running against W. that year. He may have won. But alas…McCain is loyal to his party.

And lastly, dab, or whatever handle you are using today, I am not criticizing my elders or “wisers”, I am stating my opinion. That’s kind of the point here. It is you and you only that gets all bent out of shape and in a tizzy and begins calling names and hurling insults and making up such clever things as “k-spawn”? (That is weak, here, let me give you an good nickname for me since you don’t like me, How about “K-HACK” or “K-Tard”? Or since you are a homophobe maybe “Gay”-Mac)

You know, I’m sorry that I didn’t realize that you are the great decider of when someone has earned the right to share on opinion on a blog? I suppose I should have checked with you first before ever thinking about posting on this or any blog.

I should have let you remind me that anyone that has a different view than yours is disrespectful, has a mental disorder, doesn’t have or hasn’t earned the right to speak anyway and should just be quiet. Oh, especially if they are female, gay or haven’t served in the military.

I bet the Republican party loves guys like you out their fighting the good fight for them. You have such a way with words and with people. Very pragmatic indeed.

Thanks for putting a smile on my face. Again.

John, does this mean you think 9/11 was the fault of just the democrats? Can’t we agree that there is plenty of blame to go around on both sides? I don’t put all the blame on Bush even though he was the president during the attack.

And does Obama deserve any credit for keeping us safe from attack his entire term to this point?

As you know, I respect your party switch but I am still trying to come to terms with why on 9/12 you decided it was time.

And Smackdab, lets take a deep breath and not resort to childish name calling. Relax. Take a deep breath.

» Posted By Kevin On 07/October/2009 @ 8:26 am

Was Lindsey Graham bad when he was working with George Bush during the previous eight years did he just become a problem when Obama took office?

And do you really think that those who have a different view than you have a mental disorder. You cite that Ann Coulter book a lot. I’ve noticed you have gone out of your way to praise John in almost every post (wasn’t it you that ripped me for “sucking up to the blog host”) but you fail to note that John has spent the better part of his life as a democrat. I guess he has cured his mental disorder.

» Posted By Kevin On 07/October/2009 @ 4:32 am

So, how’s that stimulus working out for you?

I think the blog host can speak for himself.

Again, take a breath and go back and read this thread and you will see that everyone other than you had a normal discussion and and then you devolved into your usual slew of insults and childish pot shots.

I suppose I have to take some of the blame for rattling your cage. It is just too easy.

» Posted By Kevin On 07/October/2009 @ 11:53 pm

No problem. Thanks for driving my point home.

Oh, and none of my guys say “Man up”, that is usually said by dorky white guys that are trying to act hip. But I am sure that isn’t the case with you. Nice work with the gross generalizations and the cliché’s though. Your intellect and wit never cease to amaze.

For example, calling someone an S’bag while accusing them of talking trash…Genius! You point out that someone shouldn’t attack others and talk trash….WHILE you are attacking others and talking trash.

You are called out and…YOU attack others and talk more trash. Brilliant!

I love it. Will you call my show. Please? I can make a whole kooky character out of you. It will be great. I will be happy to give you a gift certificate to Western Sizzler (seems like a place you would eat) for your trouble.

And the hits keep coming.

I am so happy LTG is here.

Earlier post by SMACKDAB:

“S’bag, you would do well to learn from his example. But you most likely won’t……. surely not until you have your own wake up call, at least. I wish I could be there, just for a moment, to watch and and if it happened I’d surely have a good chuckle.

But then, being a democrat and being a liberal is not necessarily the same thing, as Pat Caddell eloquently demonstrates. And since liberalism is a mental disorder the perhaps hoped for wake-up call, I’m afraid, ain’t gonna happen.

Hey, we all have mental illness in our families somewhere – no show-stopper, but still, in many ways such a burden to carry. But I’m sure John has found way’s to cope,- like maybe moving to the RoK, Korean-girl watching, dart-leagues and good cold draft beer. Cures alot of ills, I’m sure. A man could damned near put up with the IL’s up north for such a life.”

Oh, but yes,I am the one attacking those that have a differnt view and causing problems. Riiight.

» Posted By Kevin On 07/October/2009 @ 8:33 am

She didn’t ingore it Smackdab you just missed it. The point is Obama’s past is just as transparent as any other president but aparently that isn’t good enough for a very small and vocal and crazy minority of which you appear to be a part of. Even Fox News has moved on from this talking point.

» Posted By Kevin On 07/October/2009 @ 4:27 am

Well Lindsey Graham has is in the military and just last year he served in KABUL, Afghanistan. He
has been serving in the military since 1973. Is this not enough service to speak out against people who continue to question if our president was born in the U.S. and to call out Glenn Beck for being someone that may not be helping the conservative cause? This makes him an outspoken douche’?

More on Graham’s service here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/12/14/lindsey-graham-serves-mil_n_150865.html

While you are restricting who can vote in our democratic free elections I guess you should clarify that ONLY those who have served the country (do teachers, fire fighters, road workers, etc. count? Or just military?) can vote and they CAN’T be from South Carolina.

Just want to make sure we are clear.

» Posted By Kevin On 06/October/2009 @ 10:33 pm

Frank, while I admit I used blatant sarcasm, I think I clearly made the point I think it is dopey to question ones opinion based on gender, age or race.

I know context can be tricky on a blog or email. It is easy for things to get lost in translation. For example, I hope I’m wrong and Dentoku isn’t really a sexist and Dennis who, according to a previous post, thinks busing black kids to school is a bad idea and only leads to white kids being brought down by said black kids, isn’t a racist.

At least I can honestly say I am trying to be funny.

I know I am one of the only left leaning folks on LTG but I do enjoy the discussion. And thanks for getting the Beatles stuck in my head. 🙂

Yeah Fortuneate, if you weren’t a woman you would understand that it makes perfect sense to still DEMAND more info on where and even IF Obama was born.

Letting women vote may be the biggest mistake this country ever made. Now they go around acting like they are capable of having a legitimate opinion.

Q: Why do women have small feet?

A: So they can stand closer to the stove.

» Posted By Kevin On 06/October/2009 @ 6:13 am

Ahh. More of the birther talk. Dentoku, perhaps Republican Senator Lindsey Graham from the great state of South Carolina can help you out.

http://link.brightcove.com/services/player/bcpid30183074001?bctid=42981023001

Graham is a guy that I am proud is from South Carolina. Lord knows we have had some dopes in the news lately. I don’t always agree with Graham’s politics but I voted for him and plan to do so again.

Comin’ apart at every nail

Here is an good link to a funny skit on SNL this weekend. It sums up what I have been saying for months. Obama has not done much of anything since he took office. I know a lot of people (a few on this blog) like playing the fear, communist and race card but the bottom line is Obama talks a big game and does nothing. Our country is EXACTLY the same as it was this time last year.

Healthcare debate distilled

The “drive by, fool shoot” and other ‘culturally specific’ events? I can see why you don’t use your real name with comments such as this.

A glimpse into the future…

But it IS broken. As Lauren pointed out millions of good, hardworking people are going broke in this country just because they get sick. She and many others agree that EVERYONE should have access to the coverage she got for her child.

And I think the point is also being made that, contrary to what many people say, not everything the government runs is bad. Really? So our schools, military, police department, fire department, highways, state park, etc are all bad? If our government is so bad, then why do we tell people the USA is the best country in the world? I’m not saying the government it the answer to everything but I do think we have a pretty good one and one that does some very good things. It is not perfect of course.

So the public option is bad? Why? Because it will hurt the profits of these wonderful insurance companies that are making billions driving people like Lauren’s friend broke with high rates and busted coverage. Heaven forbid that they get some competition and in the process we help some people in this country that really need help.

And Obama has said our system won’t be like Canada. We will have private insurance with a public OPTION.

This country is too great for people to go broke beacuse they get sick or die becaue they don’t have any money. It isn’t your right to own a house or a car but in the USA it should be a right to have acess to health care in all situations.

The video was not shot at the production but rather while the children were practicing the one minute song that was part of an hour long program during black history month.

It wasn’t a very good song. Neither was this one that school kids sang about George W. Bush’s response to Katrina in 2006:

Sarkozy takes Obama to school

As I recall we were set to invade Iraq because they had WMD’s. We apparently had the evidence. France said that it might not be such a good idea. Obama said the same thing. I think we are still looking for those WMD’s. And I think we are still looking for a way out of there. Misson Accomplished, err., umm nevermind. But I think France deserves a break for not rushing into an ill-advised war with Iraq.

Really, I was just making the point that I find it interesting how all of the sudden what Sarkozy says is relevant. Fox News Channel’s Bill O’Reilly actually imposed an embargo (this would be really funny if it weren’t true) on France a few years ago because they apparently didn’t support our war on terror. Now that channel is using Sarkozy’s words to further their attack on the president.

Iran and North Korea have been a problem for a long time. This issue didn’t just crop up when Obama took over. We’ll see how it shakes out but short of starting a war on another front with troops and money we don’t have, I think using strong language and rallying international support isn’t a bad play.
