Walking it off

Drain, yes, I agree. Set a good example, and maybe others will follow suit. I’ve had a girl pee in the street before, too, but it was dark, and she was discrete. Guys pee anywhere and everywhere, and anytime they want. I’m not so blatant to piss against a wall on the highway, but when I need to go, I’ll look for a tree or a post to have a little privacy.

The noise is still shocking. We have a Sam’s Pizza with an outdoor speaker on full blast, so loud I hate walking by. Some guys modify the mufflers on their bikes so you can hear them a mile away. I hate that.

But these are small things compared to the shit show back home, and I will gladly deal with them to live here happily ever after.

Close to home

Mike, taking an occasional break makes the bars even more fun!

» Posted By John McCrarey On 14/September/2024 @ 7:28 am

Swan has some kitchen talent, that’s for sure. A pleasant surprise almost daily.

I like the social aspects of bars, but being alone on the roof is a nice change of pace now and then.

It’s scary to think that people are so sick with TDS that they prefer to watch Kamala and her puppet master destroy our country.

In the village

It’s rare that I get soaked enough to rub me raw, but thanks for the
Spandex tip!

Kev, yeah, I hope the technology improves and becomes more efficient. This is the biggest power project I’ve seen since moving here. And if they maintain it the way they do the roads, it won’t function long. Maybe it will be run by a private company. Someone has already invested a ton of money in this, so the motivation to get a return on that must be strong.

I’ve been fortunate not to suffer blisters when walking in wet shoes. When it was raining the other day, my wet shorts rubbed my thigh raw. That was painful enough!

Regarding connoisseur, I know the word but can’t spell it. My attempt was so bad that when I clicked on the red correction line, it offered “coinsurer,” and I stupidly accepted that obviously wrong suggestion.

Even if I was divorced, I’d never marry again. I’m a bitter old man.

Brian, I agree that solar energy has positive aspects, especially if technology continues to improve. It would really be cool to distribute those panels to the poor and powerless to light their houses. Maybe someday.

It was astounding to see the resources going into this project. Just the bridges and roadwork to the hilltop are amazing. I’m curious how they’ll build the actual solar farm. If it is only up top on the ridgeline, it may not look so bad.

What a Tuesday looks like

Brian, you are talking to the original techno-peasant. I am literally clueless about how “drag and drop” works. I’ve never seen it as an option when uploading photos. I’ll see what I can find out about it.

» Posted By John McCrarey On 13/September/2024 @ 7:51 am

Brian, Indeed.

» Posted By John McCrarey On 12/September/2024 @ 7:52 am

Yeah, they need to cut the bread size in half, thereby “doubling” the meat.

The post took me an extra hour to complete. It had over sixty photos, and they are a pain in the ass: Upload to Facebook from my phone, name and save to my laptop hard drive, upload to my WordPress server, then post and write captions.

The suffering I endure for my readers!

A Hashy Beer Day

Yes, when I saw a woman whose beauty was pure, the chaste was on!

My guess is pubes. Damn, if you are gonna shave it girl, do it right!

Sad story about your friend’s marriage. It reminded me of my ill-fated romance with Pearl. She was approaching 30 and told me her dream was to have a child. I was in love (or so I thought) and honestly told her that I couldn’t make babies anymore. I was willing to adopt, but she wanted to be a birth mother. So, no matter how much you love someone, if you can’t give them what they need to be happy, you let them go to pursue their dreams. It hurt, but we promised always to be friends. That didn’t last long. She’s had at least three boyfriends since me, but still no baby. Go figure.

Sweet sunshine

Kev, I can still take the stairs, but they do get tiring. Some of my fellow expats would have much more difficulty than I do. With so many ground-floor options, BarCelona loses customers. I think a small elevator would fix that issue.

Other than a Salisbury steak, that’s the first time I experienced gravy slathering on a good piece of meat. It would have been much better as a side dish option instead. The size was what I expected for the price. John messaged me that he purchased wine yesterday, so next time, I’ll get a full-size steak for 1500 pesos or so.

Yeah, it sucks to get old and lose the joy that comes with the finer things in life.

» Posted By John McCrarey On 10/September/2024 @ 7:57 am

Yeah, that’s true, Brian. Thailand is a popular medical destination for expats here.

I, too, shake my head in wonder at the folks who choose to live without any safety net if an emergency should arise. I’d also be selective in who I choose to help in that situation. Living dangerously comes with consequences.

Getting my rocks off

Yep, that’s a low-tide walk from now on.

I’ve been lucky and haven’t encountered many assholes here. I avoid the idiots as much as I can.

John’s is still out of red wine, so we ate at Jewel Cafe instead.

» Posted By John McCrarey On 09/September/2024 @ 8:23 am

Yep. It’s all about making good decisions. Beer helps with that.

The storm before the calm

Well, it was a flat street walk, so 9K wasn’t real challenging. I did get rubbed raw on my upper thigh from walking in wet shorts, but such is life.

Yeah, I admit I’m not very adventurous when it comes to food. I love Mexican, but fajitas rank below enchiladas, burritos, and tacos on my favorites list. I don’t recall seeing shrimp offered in those items. But now I know!

I was impressed with the cherry pie. When I bake it, it is from a box. Jeff crafted a nice, thick crust that held all those wayward cherries inside, and it tasted fantastic.

The pulmonary doctor attributed my previous breathing issues to a respiratory virus compounding my COPD. I figured she was right because after taking the meds she prescribed, the problem went away. Having breathing issues when I’m not engaged in physical activity is a new realm of discomfort. I’m wondering now if it might be heart-related. So, it’s back to the doctor to see what, if anything, can be done.

When the end of days is on the horizon, you do tend to appreciate the good ones all the more.

A post about nothing

Kev, No rain this morning! It’s supposed to be like this until Monday.

Yeah, the guy in the video wasn’t wrong with his info, just in regards to universal application. With his attitude, he’ll never find happiness.

I will tell Swan to look for a video using a batter-based Monte Cristo.

Eun Oke was especially crazy when she was drunk, and once she started drinking, she wouldn’t stop until she was crazy drunk. For years after we broke up, I’d get drunken calls from her in the wee hours of the morning–even here in the Philippines. I wish her well, but I’m damn glad I dodged that bullet!

» Posted By John McCrarey On 07/September/2024 @ 9:01 am

Thanks for checking in, Thompson. Glad to hear you are still among the living. I read something the other day about a wife hiring a hitman to kill her husband and thought of you for some reason. Sounds like your ex is going to drive you crazy but not kill you.

Good luck with the job search and finding money to pay the rent. Have you considered heading down south, crossing the border, then coming back to the USA sans ID and claiming to be a refugee? Those illegal immigrants are getting more benefits than citizens. You could live large!

“We are all alone, born alone, die alone, and—in spite of True Romance magazines—we shall all someday look back on our lives and see that, in spite of our company, we were alone the whole way. I do not say lonely—at least, not all the time—but essentially, and finally, alone. This is what makes your self-respect so important, and I don’t see how you can respect yourself if you must look in the hearts and minds of others for your happiness.”

Brian, that’s pretty much a spot-on assessment. When you are stupid, you are stupid wherever you choose to live. I’ve been scammed, but rarely in the same way twice. Even so, I don’t believe all Filipinas are scammers with evil intentions. The guys that really disgust me are the ones that all the women here like whores. Yeah, there are plenty of those, but also lots more who are decent girls. It’s not an all-or-nothing proposition.

Seas the day

Well, I was more embarrassed that I fell asleep at the bar—that’s something I never do. I should have left instead of waiting for the take-out I don’t remember ordering. Still, I pride myself on knowing when to say when, and for someone who drinks almost every day, these incidents are quite rare. The wrinkle is usually someone tossing a shot of hard stuff into the mix or not adjusting my intake when I drink stronger beer than usual.

We’ve got a couple more months of rainy season to go. It has cooled down some; I didn’t feel like I needed my fan yesterday.

Don’t worry about left or right; if you saw titties, you’re seeing straight!

Stormy skies

Aaron, Been to AC many times, but I just don’t share your passion for the place. I’m not into the whore bars, and that’s about all Angeles has to offer…

» Posted By John McCrarey On 05/September/2024 @ 2:18 pm

Yes, and with the storm, the waves were quite impressive as they hit the beach. We spent most of the morning sitting on the porch watching the ocean’s show.

Indeed, it is always nice to have a change of scenery. This trip had some special moments despite the weather.

» Posted By John McCrarey On 05/September/2024 @ 2:16 pm

As luck would have it

Kev, the worst part is having an ice cold beverage poured over your head. It’s almost painful. I’m pretty sure that is what is happening in that photo.

Honestly, I wasn’t that excited about the Angeles trip. I’d much rather hang out at the beach somewhere. Being with the group and having a free ride were the incentives, but the change of plans didn’t bother me.

Drinking out of a toilet bowl plunger is harder than it looks! Still, with a Hash name of Auto Fellatio he should have done better.

Brian, I rinsed off and changed my shirt before going to IDM, but when I got home, my hair felt like it was full of glue.

I was a vaper the first time I visited Thailand. I had no clue it was illegal there. I’m standing on the sidewalk at a busy intersection in Bangkok, waiting for the light to change. A foreigner approaches me and says, “Dude, you can’t do that here; you’re in trouble if the cops see you.” It seems ironic that the next time I was in Thailand, pot was legal, and stores selling it were on almost every corner. As far as I know, you still can’t vape there, but I quit that habit years ago.

The biggest difference between Thai girls and Filipinas is the language barrier. The English ability here is somewhat better, so it makes it easier for the girls to tell you lies. 🙂 The best conversation I had with a bargirl in Pattaya on my last trip was via Google Translate.

Every little bit helps

Brian, yeah, here’s to hoping Jason does well in school. Apparently, his mother doesn’t even know how to read. I’d much prefer investing in someone’s pursuit of education than paying their electric bill. As you say, that’s how you change a life.

» Posted By John McCrarey On 04/September/2024 @ 7:56 am

Well, John wasn’t there the night it happened, and I’ve not talked to him since. An occasional waitress there I know told me they were STILL out of wine and some other drinks. I’m glad I didn’t bother dining there this week. I’m not sure what is happening, but she says John’s wife is overwhelmed and having difficulty keeping up with things. It really makes no sense–John makes long-distance road trips to acquire his meat and fish; picking up some wine along the way seems like a no-brainer.

» Posted By John McCrarey On 03/September/2024 @ 8:00 am

Jerry, glad to hear you are still around and have your loving wife there to assist you. We’ve got to make the best of life while we have it.

Thanks for checking in, I’ve been wondering how you were doing.

It’s that time of year again

Kevin, I had a taste of the chicken and it was flavorful and good. I wasn’t interested in the pasta at all.

A reason I’ve heard for the long Christmas season is financial. Poor folk can put a Christmas gift on layaway in September and might have it paid for by Christmas day. It’s bizarre to hear carols about “dashing through the snow” when almost no one here has ever seen snow.

I read today that Aurora is blaming the greedy landlords for the gang violence. And if you read Steve’s comment, you can see that media lies become the gospel truth for the indoctrinated. Sad and scary.

I didn’t bother checking to see if John had restocked his wine. Swan wanted Mangos pork chops, and I aim to please. I’ll go back next week.

» Posted By John McCrarey On 02/September/2024 @ 9:41 am

Steve, I am not a Trump fanatic. During his presidency I wished he’d just keep his mouth shut and work to make America a better place for us all. The last four years have been a disaster, and Kamala will only make it worse. It’s an easy choice for me.

There is also no point in arguing about politics here, because no minds will be changed. Your reasons for hating Trump are almost all based on outright media lies. If your hatred of Trump means more to you than doing what’s right for our country, there is nothing left to be said. Good luck to you.

» Posted By John McCrarey On 02/September/2024 @ 9:32 am

Inflation is through the roof. The borders are wide-open. Crime is rampant. We’ve lost our energy independence. Our military is in disarray. To me, it is just simply a question of continuing down this path or changing course. We were better off under Trump than we are now.
