I do think I could live a happy life in La Union, but Barretto is still a more convenient fit. Next up on my travel itinerary is a trip to Angeles City in two weeks. I’ve got Vietnam upcoming in July and I’m considering the Thailand Nash Hash in October. Live it while you got it!

Wasting away again…

Yeah, that guy was impressively fast, especially given the terrain he had to traverse.

I had to go back and look at the “A shady spot” photo to see what you meant. Those aren’t rooks, it is two carabao lying in the shade.

I hope yesterday wasn’t my “final Hash.” I am going to skip the Subic Hash today, but I’ll be back in action in a week.

Yes, it is technically a “Hash run,” even if you walk the trail. The Hash was founded in Malaysia in the 1930s by British military troops stationed there. These days, there are more fat old guy Hashers than fit folks. We have a handful of actual runners in Subic, but they are in the minority. The Hash motto is: “A drinking club with a running problem.” That fits.

Well, it’s semantics: Trump won the popular vote, and even the lefty Factcheck.org agrees:

President-elect Donald Trump is the first Republican presidential candidate to win the popular vote in 20 years. Social media users have wrongly claimed that Trump lost the popular vote, but they are confusing the popular vote with a majority of votes. The unofficial results show Trump received slightly less than a majority, but more votes than any candidate.

We are better off than we were under Biden, and I don’t believe anyone believes Kamala was a viable option. As you say, time will tell, but at least we are on the right path.

Kevin, I think the motivation of most Hares is to do the kind of trail they enjoy. KTC and Vienna Sausage like a challenge, and so make it challenging for everyone. My favorite Hares, like Leech My Nuggets, routinely make a difficult trail but include a “cripple trail” option for wimps like me.

I’m sure Trump is a bigger deterrent to Chinese aggression than Harris would have been.

Brian, most of the time, new Hashers come along with a friend. When I lived in Seoul, I sometimes saw the local Hashers in the bars and had no desire to join them. I used to follow a vlogger from Barretto, who was a Hasher, and his videos made me want to try a trail. I did my first Hash on January 1, 2018, during my final trip here before the move. I still prefer the hikes to the Hash Circle rituals, but I do enjoy the beers!

The virgin this week came along with a Hasher friend, Lousy Blowjob, who hadn’t come to Hash for years. I guess she forgot to tell her friend what to expect.

DS, Trump is a better option than Harris, and the majority of Americans agree with me on that.

If you are still defending the fraud, waste, and abuse of USAID, then you are willfully ignoring the truth.

I’m quite certain that Trump is a bigger deterrent to China than Harris would have been. Hopefully, they won’t FAFO.

Well, I was taking some creative license with that post title, knowing it was grammatically incorrect. Sometimes, it is fun to intentionally flaunt the rules!

Yeah, what little I remember about Korean is as wrong as my punctuation. I wanted her to tell him, “Take off your pants,” to see his reaction. I’m sure now that he didn’t have a clue what she was saying. Oh well, she got a lady drink for trying, so it’s still a win.

Regarding the poem, it’s funny how I used to over-comma, but now I don’t use commas enough. Karen and I are still friends on Facebook; she saw the poem when I posted it there. She loved the memories it brought of our passionate, youthful love affair.

Now, an “egga burger” is more than a patty melt. The egg, for one thing, along with all those veggies and spices she used. Nothing quite like it that I’ve seen.

Kev, yep, we noticed the signage change at Laharnyz just a couple of months ago. It’s amazing how fast things can change.

Well, I only use my driver for shopping excursions and out-of-town trips. I walk almost everywhere else, and Jeepneys and trikes are available if I need them. That’s not the case in Club Morocco, I’d be stranded without access to wheels.

Thanks for bursting my bubble regarding the heaven I fantasize about. How am I going to sleep at night now? I don’t doubt my “do-over” lives wouldn’t result in the same or similar mistakes, but I’d be traveling down those roads I didn’t take in this life to see where they lead. I don’t believe in the Biblical heaven, and it sounds pretty boring anyway, but I have to have faith that the Almighty who created the universe has the power to grant me my own space in the multiverse where I can live my “Groundhog Life.” If not, then I guess I’m destined for that after-death nothingness you mention.

Yes, I read the appendices, and I was probably high when I did, so I don’t remember. 🙂 Shit, I thought I was being a good grammar Nazi correcting that capitalization error, only to learn I was wrong. To the grammar gas chamber for me!

The story I heard was that the houses were built and owned by Lewis Grand, who had a huge hotel in Angeles City. Apparently, he pissed off the wrong people and got disappeared a few years ago.

Brian, yes, the lahar is being harvested. It is used in concrete, and I don’t know what else, but those loaded dump trucks take it to a dock, and it is loaded on ships for export.

I’ve not visited Jakarta, but that law is typical of government mindlessness. Sorta like that bullet train going nowhere in California. When I was in Bangkok, I thought that it was like a nicer version of Manila. What makes Manila’s traffic especially bad is that Filipino drivers are the absolute worst I’ve seen anywhere in the world. No skills or common sense at all.

I agree with you regarding the “talent” show. A bargirl dance routine doesn’t display much talent. I was a judge a couple of years ago, and the gals who could sing got extra points from me.

Devin, Swan loves to travel and we’ll be doing more of that together in the coming months.

I’m not sure how anyone can think that Biden/Harris did anything good for America, but that problem has been resolved by the voters, and we are on the road to being great again.

The day that was and is no more

Kevin, I’m glad the caption worked for you. It was the Don of a new McLean pun.

That nice house is built on a busy road with nothing to view except the shit dwellings surrounding it. Nothing like advertising you are the richest person around. Which is why that spikey fence is necessary.

And now I’ve learned two new words! Thanks for the compliments on the photo; I was just lucky with that one. For the record, that’s not Swan sitting by the railing; it’s just some random stranger who happened to be there. I’m glad she enhanced the view with some perspective, though.

I don’t mention my family much, and I haven’t been home for six years now. Of course, no one has visited me here either. I’ve pretty much been ghosted, which hurts, but I try not to dwell on it.

Dr. Jo didn’t seem concerned about my lower BP readings. She did ask if I experience light-headedness, which only rarely occurs. We are going to reduce my BP meds by half and see what happens.

Drain, I don’t believe any of Trump’s executive orders are unconstitutional. If the Supreme Court rules otherwise, I’ll accept that. Nothing in the Constitution says that illegal invaders who bear children are entitled to birthright citizenship.

Kevin, So, now I remind you of your old neighbor? As a matter of fact, I used to consume Chiclets when I was a kid.

Everything else on the laptop works fine, and it’s the best one I’ve ever owned. A friend got it for me in the USA, and I don’t know if I can find a replacement for it here.

Thanks for the kind words regarding Swan. Truth is, I think I did that transactional phase because I was afraid of a relationship like this one. When you care, you risk getting hurt. But here I am, giving it one last try. Will I fuck it up? Maybe all those life lessons will help avoid repeating mistakes. We shall see!
