The grill was a ways away from our hangout area, so I couldn’t be bothered to go back for more photos. I think that mystery meat is diced pork.

Actually, those mysterious blackouts no longer occur. I had a couple of drunken falls when I briefly switched from beer to gin, but the standing up and losing consciousness thing ended years ago. I still think it was lung/smoking related (lack of oxygen making it to my blood).

Ha, maybe I was monkeying around when I wrote “banjee.” I guess I didn’t have a spellcheck app back then. And I needed a comma after “around.”

#1 needs another “t” in stitches.

I think I was brain-damaged, not drunk. And when it comes to punctuation, I’ve always been comma-tose.

Kev, actually, the railing made it worse…it was flimsy and wobbled when you gripped. If you were to lose your balance, it wouldn’t prevent a fall. But yeah, the logs were firm and didn’t move as you walked, so it was better than the typical “rickety” bridge.

Yeah, I was being intentionally contradictory with that phrasing. I just don’t see how a mother would agree to give up her kids to have a relationship with a foreigner. Now, there are circumstances like going overseas to work that necessitate that, but that wasn’t the situation Reekay was describing. No, I don’t want to raise someone else’s kids at this stage of my life (I had step-children in three of my marriages, and it was okay, I just don’t want to do that as an old man). Still, a woman who would walk away from her children to be with me is downright scary and not someone I’d trust with my heart.

Brian, she eliminated me right of the bat based on my age. I guess she never learned that age is just a number. I’m thirty in my heart. But yeah, there are lots of other reasons not to love me, so maybe she is a smart girl after all.

I would if I could

Kevin, misunderstandings like that one on our hikes are very rare. This one came about due to unrelated circumstances. When we headed out, we had a general idea of the area we’d be passing through, but no specific quest like Black Rock. When we got closer, Ed wanted to do the climb to BR and asked if I was going to go around instead (like I’m known to do). My response was intended to be, “No, I’ll go up,” but was heard as I wasn’t going. I’m slower than the others, so I’m always bringing up the rear. Somewhere during the ascent, the group changed their mind and took a different trail rather than going to the top. Since they thought I’d gone around, they didn’t know to wait for me. I did send a message from the summit, and they said they’d wait for me at the bottom.

I have no idea what is going on with Kevin. He’s a big-time lefty, so maybe it is politics. His wife doesn’t like my blog and doesn’t want my granddaughter to see it. Or perhaps it is something else, or he just doesn’t care about the old man. We didn’t have an argument or anything like that. I know I could reach out, but at least so far, my pride and distaste for drama preclude that.

Brian, the “finger block maneuver” is my attempt to be funny. The photo is legit, though. A real moment in time when a friend tried to flip me off after darts in Itaewon and I pushed his hand away with that snooty expression and some one captured it on camera.

The stock numbers I posted were just something I came across that made me think of you. It was posted in response to all the doom and gloom, world is ending crap, when stocks went down briefly a few days earlier. I am very confident you will be eating crow next year and I’ll be trying my best to be gracious with my “I told ya so”…

Kev, yeah, I have had several real life “friends” unfriend me because of differing political views, even ones I never argued with. Just goes to show how much my friendship meant to them. It is sad to see, but it is a reflection on Steve’s character, not yours.

I avoid products made in China as much as possible. It will be good to have more options. The fact that many manufacturers are leaving the country is a good sign.

Time will tell. I personally don’t why to buy anything made by slave labor in China. I certainly do not deify Trump, but he is saving our country from the destruction brought on by Biden that would have escalated under Harris. America First!

The culprit didn’t respond, but ex #3 chimed in, saying that China won and Trump blinked. Facts don’t matter to the indoctrinated.

That’s the best thing about good jokes: they stay funny even when oft-repeated. I’m not surprised I’ve used it before, but given my lack of memory, I’m liable to use it again, and it will seem new again. Glad you liked the “tolerance” meme!

Kev, as a matter of fact, that’s the purpose of my going through all my old posts here and tagging the ones I’d use in a book, “The Story of My Life.” Once I finish that, I’ll have to think of a format and fill in any gaps in my story. I might consult with you about self-publishing if you don’t mind.

Learned last night that Dave is back home at his Manila residence now. Apparently, the driver is in his 70s and has been with Dave (in his 80s) for many years. Sounds like retirement is the driver’s best option.

Terry, my favorite whore movie is probably “Debbie Does Dallas”. Oh, shit, you said, horror. The first one that comes to mind is one that gave me nightmares when I was a kid, “Night of the Living Dead”. I just asked Swan hers, and she said, “Shudders”. I have never even heard of that one before.

I was raised in the Protestant faith; Foursquare and Assembly of God churches. But I quit being a believer back when I was a rebellious teen.

Brian, I wear one of my numerous Hash shirts whenever I go for a hike. Now that Swan has been Hashing for awhile, she has her own collection of shirts. Some days we both choose the same shirt by coincidence, although there have been occasions where she copies my choice on purpose. I don’t mind either way.

I figured it wasn’t you I mentioned, I’d have a stronger recollection of a fantasy football opponent. I used to be a fanatic of pro sports, these days I don’t know and I don’t care. Another example of how I’ve lost touch with the American culture.

Yep, I remember those stairs. For the ten years or so that Dolce Vita was my Itaewon bar hangout I witnessed several drunken downfalls, although I was never a victim. I did my falling inside the bar.

Kev, thanks for the sounding out and pronunciation clarifications, even though they no longer matter. Yes, I’ve forgotten more than I ever knew about the hangeul alphabet. Gaesaekii! I still have a small vocabulary that I sometimes use jokingly. I’ll greet, thank, and order a beer in Korean to enjoy the confused faces of my victims. I do that with my limited Spanish on occasion, too.

I met one or two decent women on dating sites (too decent for my low character), but most were lying scammers looking for handouts.

Sharing an overcrowded cell with fifty other criminals, sleeping on the floor, a limited diet of rice and scraps, no access to meds or health care, is a fate worse than death for me. You can alleviate some of that if you have family and friends with the money to pay for upgrades, but I never want to FAFO if that experience is survivable.
