Brian, yeah, I posted that “wanted poster” of Asian women for humor, not because I thought it looked real. Their choice of countries to depict was a little strange, I agree.
Yes, that house isn’t very big and needs some maintenance, that’s for sure. A commenter on Facebook said there is a similar house in his neighborhood selling for 4 million. The price difference is all about location. I’d enjoy sitting on that upstairs deck and sipping a beer while taking in the beach/bay views, but only if I could rent it.
My subdivision is also overpriced, but I expect my house would be listed in the 15 million range ($260,000).

My guess is the sweet and sour was Korean-style tangsuyuk.

Yep, the “Decay Dance” is all about spreading cavities and flipping the bird to all the naysayers who disapprove.
It seems there is a common denominator in government services worldwide; roads are but one example of the incompetence.
I didn’t see the butterfly effect, but glass shards aren’t as ugly as the barbed wire rolls you usually see on top of fences.
The comma after nothing is missing. I think bad punctuation is a prerequisite when writing memes.

Brain, good to hear that you don’t have to deal with the extremists in your daily life back home. I know I’m glad not to be there. There is no excuse for the celebration of anyone’s murder. There are many on the left that I absolutely despise, but I don’t want them killed. Being exposed for the idiots they are is enough.

The point is Kirk was killed for expressing opinions the shooter didn’t agree with. If it turns out that the killer was to the RIGHT of Kirk and didn’t approve of his not being extreme enough, so be it. Somehow, I don’t think that is the case. And now I am reading that the sniper had a trans roommate/lover. Hmm, does it get more MAGA than that?

As to the animation topic, I think one depicting the insanity of the left would be perfect for these times. He could focus on their reactionary lies surrounding the Charlie Kirk assassination.

Kevin, yeah, pork steak it was. First time I’d ever heard the “gammon” and now I know its etymology. Thanks for that. And commenter Gary also notes that it is used as an insult in the UK.
Oh, maybe if I was strolling down the beach and got thirsty for a beer, I’d maybe pop into Wombat.. Absent some major upgrades and marketing, I don’t expect it will be around long.

Thanks, Anon. My backup plan is just wiring money to myself on Remitly and picking it up at one of the ubiquitous Lluhiller shops. Using Wise is great for sending to bank accounts, and now that I have one here (in Swan’s name) that’s what I’ll be doing henceforth.

One of my neighbors just bought one of those solar showers. I’m going to tough it out for now and see how it goes.
Yes, Swan has been trained to do CPR should that ever be needed. She also verified that my new helper has those skills. It’s good to see folks motivated to keep me alive!

Brandon, I use Wise now to transfer money from my US bank account to pay my landlord and helper. Yesterday, Swan set up an account (in her name since I’m not eligible) with an ATM card for me to use. Transferred some money and made a withdrawal today. And yeah, it was free compared to the 250 pesos I paid on ATM withdrawals from the USA.

Brian, I started the SSRV process when I first moved here, but jumping through the bearurcratic hoops wore me out and I gave up. Might try again someday with a “fixer” to do the heavy lifting, but I’m okay being a tourist for now.
As a matter of fact, that’s the method I use to pay Swan’s allowance. It’s easy using Wise transfer service. Yesterday Swan opened a new account in her name, but I will use it for moving my money from my US account. The best thing about it is the local ATM card is free to use, my foreign card got charged 250 pesos a pop. Did my first withdrawal this morning and it worked like a charm.
I’m going to stay in-country until the January trip to Vietnam. The only problem with a Korea visit (besides the sad memories of what was and was not to be) is that Swan would need a visa, which isn’t that easy for a Filipina.

Brian, ah, okay. I wasn’t familiar with that app. Sounds way cool, but I doubt many Hashers here would use it. Do you need a connection for it to work? Some of those rural areas have spotty coverage?

Kevin, yeah, I took poetic license calling that a branch. It is a fallen tree, so it has numerous branches.
Yes, it is nice that Swan and I share some mutual interests. I really enjoy having a hiking partner. I am also happy that she is my drinking companion. I smiled to myself at IDM on Monday when SWAN bought all the girls a lady drink. A chip off the old block!
Nope, not too interested in showering outside. I’ll just have to tough it out with cold water buckets, supplemented by the occasional hotel room. It’s funny, one of the neighbors posted a link to that “solar shower,” but said he wasn’t getting one.

Dr. Greg, a tank is a good thing…for a day or two, but not for weeks of no water. I’ll try not to stink too bad but taking sponge baths and suffering cold buckets of water over the head. I’m also thinking this is a good excuse to get the hell out of town some.

Aaron, a water tank is good for a short outage, but when there is no water for weeks, the tanks can’t fill the void. My neighbor told me his tank is already almost empty after two days.

Brian, well I often see a map of the trail before hand, but that’s pretty useless when you are on a narrow dirt path and come to a junction, the maps are not detailed enough to follow precisely. When I Hare, I always try and mark any intersection so there is no question about which was to proceed. A well-marked trail is fun and easy to follow.
Heh, you’ve seen how I look, so no, I have no knowledge of fitness facilities around town. My plan now is to get used to sponge bathing, rent a hotel room every few days, and/or go out of town for a bit.

Next time you have some spare coin, pick up a proper tobacco pipe. Back in the day, I puffed my nicotine fix that way. I’ve never had to deal with the withdrawal symptoms you describe. I’m doubtful I could handle that. Good luck with your recovery.
