Not sure when you left Greg, but they opened up that little pathway (which I wandered many a time as well) and now the Hamilton Hotel alley runs straight through. It’s definitely increased the foot traffic.
Itaewon is now mostly trendy restaurants and upscale bars. But the Koreans are coming in droves to eat that shit up. I see a lot more of them than I ever did before, even in the old school Western bars. Hey, the lady folk are easy on the eyes so I don’t mind…

Greg, thanks for being a reader and thanks for your support. It means a lot to me.
Itaewon has been trending to the upscale for quite some time now. Lots of the bars are having their rents raised to the point that they can’t afford to stay in business.
I do have some good news for you though. Goldfish has been remodeled and reopened. I haven’t been back in yet, but it looks nice enough from the outside. Although truthfully I liked it just fine before. These days I spend most of my time at Shenanigans (the former Bless U).

Kevin, thanks for your support. I actually envy people like you and my friend Dennis who have the confidence and sense of self worth to be content with living a somewhat solitary life. I am determined to find a way to be satisfied with who am alone. And yes, I’ve noted the errors of my ways that has brought me to this point in life. I’m determined to not seek solace through someone else’s love this time around. I’m channeling Whitney Houston right now… 🙂

Heh, well like it or not it’s a good analogy. Especially if blood = Korean food. But honestly I’m happy to be back as well.
It’s a little after 3:00 a.m. as I write this. The jet lag thing for this trip has been quite unusual. I just want to sleep all the time, any time–in two hour bursts. So yeah, that’s gonna be hard to adapt to the work setting.
The blankets up front on the plane are bigger and thicker than coach. It always seemed to me that the intended use for the blanket was as much for fart containment as it was for warmth (ha, heating with gas). In the big seats it’s much harder to feign innocence…

Well, I don’t think it is so much the case of our saving the world as it is saving ourselves. I believe that Russia and France have also come to recognize that ISIS is our common enemy.
I think we can do better than Trump. I also know when can do much worse. We’ll see.

Truthfully, I tend to only write about the drama because it is so infrequent. But yeah, it takes the joy out of playing.
Diet and exercise. Exercise and diet. With a dash of motivation and self-discipline. That’s the battle plan. Heh, maybe I should write it up as an OPORD.

Fascinating. I knew there was some Chinese influences in the language, but had never understood how they played out. Practically speaking, even on the rare circumstances I might know the work in Korean, I’m still likely to get it wrong. Thank god they understand me when I say “maegju chuseyo”…

Yeah, no idea how that imaged flipped. I noticed it right off because my previous vehicle in Korea was in fact a Japanese Nissan with right hand drive.
The “pizza” (ok, haemul pajeon) is not my favorite dish, but this one was outstanding. Yes, very crunchy and chock full of fresh goodness…
Thanks for the Korean lesson. It does make perfect sense when you spell it out for me. Although if you had asked me how to say “sea” I would have said “pada” and if you asked me what “mul” was I would have answered “water”. Ah well, I’ve pretty much given up…
