Yes, exactly. When I first started LTG I made a deliberate decision to blog under my real time. It just seemed like if I was unwilling to stand behind my opinions then they were meaningless. Which is not to say my opinions are right, just that they are mine.

Yeah Soju, Uncle Sam must really love my ass because he’s always taking a bite out of it.
Been to Anjung-ri once and it was ok. A couple of bars hard boards, so there’s potential.
And yes, the new CG is driving hard on this. Most of the buildings are up and nearly ready. It’s gonna happen.

Cool. By next summer I meant 2017 so I’ll be a regular at Shenanigans in the interim. Not sure if I’ll seek or be offered another extension after the move. I’m not afraid to live in the “countryside” and Songtan with its dart league is a pretty easy jump….

BTW, my high school girlfriend called it “eating pumpkin pie”. Not sure why. I have yet to meet a Korean gal who’d let me eat her pie, her peach or her mango. American gals love to be devoured. Oh well.

Soju: No, the curfew is only “strongly encouraged” for civilians, not required. It was mere coincidence that I was drunk and ready to sleep right around 1 a.m. I think my sunup to sundown does are only a memory now.
No, the trophies were too expensive. I’ve got a couple sources in the USA but it always pisses me off to pay almost as much in shipping as I do for the trophies. But given that what I saw in Songtan was much more expensive and factoring in the hassle factor of getting them back to Seoul, I reckon I’ll just pay postage again this year…

Kevin: Interesting knowing that mactan relates to black widows. The spider I despise above all others. Didn’t see one on Mactan fortunately. I do however throw Black Widow brand darts, although they fail to strike fear into the hearts of my opponents.

Nomad: Yes, even on the resort island of Mactan there was plenty of crushing poverty to be witnessed. That was one of the factors that made me hesitate in retiring there because it really does get depressing.

Tried to. It seems some folks can’t handle the truth (or at least my version of the truth). I’ve conceded that writing about my work life, no matter how generically, is probably not in my best interest. After all, the blog don’t pay the bills. But I will be damned if someone will stop me from exercising my freedom of expression in any other regard.

Thanks, Kevin. Actually I don’t know how to tell you where I picked up the route as I was basically just meandering towards the mountain and came across the trail head. Not far from Haebangchon is the best I got.
Well, realistically I’ll only do the mountain on weekends. But it is nice to get out of town without leaving town.

Kevin, I actually find the walking almost enjoyable and I do feel better afterwards. Doubtful I’ll ever go into the realm of 20,000 steps though–that might be too much of a good thing for me. The biggest benefit to walking I’ve found so far is that it helps me overcome temptation. When I see the chocolate in the candy dish at work, I’m like “ain’t worth negating that hour of walking”…
