Damn it to hell

Ha Ha! Yeah, I got a cab straight away out of Seoul Station. Between his English and my hand signals I managed to get dropped right at my front door with no incidents. It’s good to be home!

Beggars can’t be choosers

Not nearly as nice as Itaewon, Kevin.

Thanks for the comment Joseph, wish I could have seen Itaewon back in the good ol’ days…

Living dangerously

Indeed it is. It seems like it is every man for himself here. I even have a smoking/vaping room, not that it would have stopped me if I didn’t…

Greetings from the Philippines

Phonetics is my friend but I’ll try and acquaint myself with spelling as well….

Have a dream and hope!

Thanks for the comments Black Widow. I’m not going to be scared away!

Hmm. Yeah, I’ll have to keep my guard up. I’ve already nixed the idea of walking alone through the countryside…

I’m a changed man…

Thanks, Duke.

It’s funny, the barber who only speaks only a little English said “you sure? it’s your trademark…”

Another bad decision

Scary!

Yeah, I’ve heard that too and I think it is probably right. I guess Plan B would involve weight training. Hell, If I build up my upper body to where my chest is bigger than my belly no one would notice the belly. That’s probably not going to happen though…

Let it go

Yeah, beer is in my future. In the meantime I’ll try and do a better job pacing myself.

A memorable weekend

Well, the bar is set pretty high on BBQ in these parts, but it only seems fair to find out first hand. I noticed their picture sign included a hamburger. What self respecting bbq joint serves a hamburger?

Well, I walked a lot and for the longest period of time I’ve managed. Before I changed out phones I had 24,000+ and the other phone gave me 6000+ on the walk home. When we get together for the BBQ let’s calibrate/synchronize our pedometers so we are on the same setting…..

Closing a door

It seems that for me loving and losing go hand and hand. I’m just astounded how wrong I was about this last one..

Tears for Bridget Werner

Lonie, thanks for dropping by and I’m so very happy you discovered my humble tribute to your special sister.

We have reconstituted the What the Bulls? dart team and are playing the season in her honor. So far we are undefeated! Feels almost like she is there cheering us on!

Too much of a good thing?

Good stuff!

A friend has convinced me to incorporate some weight training into my routine for much the same reason you mention.

Pushing me to the next level, eh? We’ll see. When rainy season gets here it might be tougher.

Considering you had a rest day and a lazy day you’ve had an exceptional week. I’d not be surprised if doing 20,000+ every other day does more good than 10,000 each day. What’s the science on that?

Another notch in my belt

Thanks Kevin and Soju…

Better to see me in an infomercial than America’s Most Wanted I suppose…

In the mood…

Yeah, I don’t see anything like that on my receipts. I’ll just have to monitor the mailbox and have the realtor call if I don’t see something come in…

» Posted By John McCrarey On 17/May/2016 @ 7:14 pm

Kevin, I always keep my receipts. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten a gas bill delivered to the house. So I don’t think I’ve paid twice. My realtor is supposed to serve as my “Korean speaking friend”. I can’t seem to make her understand that the gas company needs to actually bill me if they want to be paid. I’ll give it a month and see what happens I guess…

YOLO

Greg, it is simply called Pedometer. I got from the Google Play apps. I tried several but I really like the simplicity of this one. It seems fairly accurate and so far at least I have no issues…

Those steps included my walking from Songtan to Osan and Yongsan to home. I’m only good for 2 or 2 1/2 hours walking and then my legs give out.

Now comes the hard part…

It’s a national holiday…

Yeah, they tried to sell me one of those, but I’m old school. I like to have a fully charged battery in reserve…

Every step you take

Yep!

Vaster, that’s a tough situation. You have the right outlook though, pick yourself up and move on with life. Things can and will change. For what it is worth, in my career the jobs I didn’t get set me up for better opportunities later. Good luck to you!

Down the Seven Bridges Road

Never checked the steps, but I’d reckon 15 or 20 minutes between bridges.

Walk on

Haha! I had to follow the link. I honestly did not remember that Noonan character. Thanks. I think.
