What’s it all mean?

Thanks for link. Never seen anything like this. Must have all been born on the same day.

“Tent caterpillars exhibit boom-or-bust population dynamics. The most notorious of the outbreak species is the forest tent caterpillar. During outbreaks, the caterpillars can become so abundant that they are capable of completely defoliating tens of thousands of acres of forest.”

Hashoitus interruptus

Yeah, apparently our Grandmaster didn’t want to cross any lines so he resigned. I feel bad about that.

Enough already

Yeah, the photos I’ve seen were shocking. Places I used to walk underwater. What a view!

Alone With Everybody

Jill is a hard-working girl! Er, a girl working hard. Um, you know what I mean!

Thanks for the kind words. I think I’ve seen a couple of those stairway photos (or something similar) but not as nice as the ones you describe.

That’s a no go

Reminds me of the famous Mexican politician, Ronaldo Reaganoso, words to the world: derribar esa pared!

Saving my privates

So, maybe I can make that a new pickup line in the bars: “baby, can I taste your poppy bud?”

Mismanagement

Yeah, it was surprisingly good spaghetti, but I don’t fear onions! That mountain of mozzarella in the middle was a little intimidating though.

Brian, yes it is a very well run Hash but anytime you get a group together there will be naysayers. The complaints were for the most part out of the control of our leaders. We don’t have many options for the on-homes, so for now they will be at a private residence and once a month at Hunter’s Jo Inn. Some people who live on the Subic side of the river claim they can’t get to Barretto for the Hash, which is in my mind bullshit. If nothing else, there’s the back way over the mountain. Damn, we’re Hashers. With the earlier starts we are all drinking more beer and that impacts the bottom line. So there was some grumbling about raising the price but we can always lower it again when things get back to normal. The later start will help in that regard too.

The unbearable lightness of being

I’m not sure why I didn’t update the blog back then. I guess I didn’t care enough to bother. It was a nothing post and the commenters made their point. Just weird that someone finds that all these years later. Oh well.

I did go check out that fanged furry thing lying dead on the trail. Looks like it could do some damage.

Making my own way

I can’t argue with your logic here and I’ve had these same thoughts. I’m cutting her some slack (or making excuses) for a couple of reasons. One, I do not want to force her decision via an ultimatum. I honestly do believe she prefers me at this point in time but there is a complication. Her BF is buying a house. And since foreigners can’t own property in the PI, it is in Iline’s name. I think she has to figure out how to get out of that arrangement or if she really wants to. Homeownership has always been her dream and I won’t be buying any houses here. We shall see, but I have at least one eye open!

It’s true, people are going to talk. I never cheated on my ex, physically anyway. But I would meet or see women now and then who reminded me that I was wasting my time in that relationship. Now I am free to do as I please.and I choose a woman who is already in a relationship. I’m one fucked up individual when it comes to matters of the heart.

After reading your Fadlan quote it seems perhaps I haven’t got a prayer…

Living in the bubble

Kev, yes that is exactly right regarding Mary. I had the same thought. If she had played me right she might have had me wrapped around her finger…for a while anyway. The fact that she won’t leave me alone now shows that she’s figured out she screwed up. Lucky me! Still no idea where Iline will lead me. I’m going to try and keep my eyes wide open along the way.

Brian, Manila is the only place where things appear out of control, so logically any changes should not affect Olongapo. But there hasn’t been much logic in any of the government’s actions thus far, so who knows? I’m not sure how much more of this the common folk can stand. So many are truly suffering.

Keep on keeping on

Valid points and good advice as usual. In my defense, Iline is initiating most of our contact and I’m just going along for the ride. I think she wants to be sure about her choice and whatever that is, I’ll accept it. The big thing for me is re-discovering that love is worth having in my life and that I shouldn’t settle for less. Yeah, you told me that a long time ago and it turns out you were right. Again.

I’m very sensitive about intruding into whatever decision Iline makes regarding her boyfriend. I want her to be happy. If he is right for her I couldn’t lure her away if I tried. If he is not, then she deserves the person who is. Her call. In the meantime, I’m just going to take things as they come. I’m tired of wasting my time on women who don’t meet my needs. If that means winding up alone, I’ll accept that outcome and be glad for the times we’ve shared.

It was the best of times

Kev, yeah I was spelling her name the way it ought to be spelled but then noticed how she spells it on Facebook, so changed it up. I’m impressed you noticed. You ISPBWBO60EP guys are on your game!

Thanks, Brian. There ain’t much of a road to go down at the moment but I’m just happy I rediscovered the destination is indeed worth the journey. We’ll see what happens next…

True confessions

Kev, the lunch was grope free indeed. It also featured some of the finest conversation I have experienced in a goodly long time. Lots of laughs too.

James, I’m reminded of something a girlfriend told me many years ago: “No man is totally worthless, he can always serve as a bad example”. I’m glad my readers can benefit from hearing about my relationship train wrecks and pratfalls. And you are absolutely correct–Ilene is someone I could easily fall in love with. Alas, she is currently not available.

That’s crazy talk, Soju! ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks, guys. I’ve certainly earned the admonishment and ridicule. No one is harder on me than I am though. To my credit, I didn’t get emotionally involved with her. Was hoping for a Sugar Daddy arrangement at most. But yes, that smokin’ body probably did blind me to certain realities. It’s scary when you can’t trust your own judgment about a person’s motivations.

No country for old men

There was an outside shower by the pool thankfully. Most of the locations we use for On-Home activities during normal times are beachside so they have showers as well. Yeah, I wouldn’t want to have to get home looking like an unbaked cake!

There’s something about Mary

Yeah, I’m on a budget too. She’ll need to live within hers.

Thanks, Neil. It’s a small world, you never know. Thanks for reading!

Hail Mary!

Kev, I’m glad I specified that s/he didn’t have a penis!

I don’t think it was technically a Rule #1 violation since she didn’t really ask, I offered. I just didn’t get the quid pro quo I was hoping for. Anyway, she’ll be back tonight and I’m curious to see what she has in mind. I will not be surprised if it is all about the money. She’s just going to have to provide value to earn it.

Rascal, I don’t see me going down that relationship road. Might need a part-time employee though… ๐Ÿ™‚

Nothing goes as planned

I don’t think I’m familiar with that term. I hope the switching out of parts of words was intentional!

Yeah, Jhen has sent several messages expressing her joy and gratitude. I was just disappointed that the laptop didn’t purchase me a couple of hours of company. Anyway, it’s all good now.

Speaking of dyslexia, I recall getting robbed by a dyslexic guy once: “Okay mother sticker, this is a fuck up! Get your ass in the air or I’ll blow your hands off!”

*ahem*

What’s up with that?

HaHa! Actually, I hadn’t heard that joke but it works for me! ๐Ÿ™‚

Lots of people wondering what will happen to the Arizona property and whether the property owner will attempt to reopen it. The problem is the Philippines is still enforcing a travel ban into the country and without tourists there’s no money to be made at a resort hotel.

Who’d a thunk it?

I hope I have at least one multiple day hike in my future. Unlikely end-to-end on one of the ones you guys mention, but something. A few years back some guys hiked from Barretto to Angeles City. That took 3 days if I recall correctly. I’d like that provided I had the right logistical support (i.e. a comfortable bed, a shower, restaurant, and beer of course) at the end of the day.

“Tramping around”. We have that here in the Philippines. Or used to before they shut down the bars. Never wore special shoes for that though…

We’ve got a couple of Kiwi Hashers, I’ll have to ask them about that trail.
