One of these is different from the other

Kev, this has been an interesting voyage into the realm of grammatical correctness. As I mentioned, I always thought “different than” was common usage, but I can’t say why I believed that. Just the way I heard it in my head I suppose. Anyway, I changed “than” to “from” in the title as my concession of defeat in this debate. In other words, the headline is different from before.

BW, yeah it says a lot when the comment section is more interesting than the post! Still, sweet memories of your husband. Thanks for sharing. He lives on in your heart!

Interesting. I honestly thought I was just using a well-known colloquialism –I had no idea I was making a grammatical faux pax by saying “different than”. I’m not about to engage in a debate with an English wizard like yourself, but I will drop this Merriam-Webster link that seems to support my usage, at least way back when.

Yeah, I slipped on mismatched shoes this morning. That’s what the title was alluding to.

My veins are popping ugly, that’s for sure. No pain though, so I’m lucky in that regard.

HaHa, yeah, I hadn’t thought of that. Those are varicose veins. My mom had them too. No pain, just ugly as hell. Comes with the other symptoms of old age…like mismatched shoes.

Walk and roll

Yeah, my walking has cured worse ills than whatever this is. The age thing did cross my mind too. Nothing I can do about that but hope for more age to come!

A night on the town

Yes, an example of how a “hand-up” is much more effective than a “hand-out”…

A drunken night

Glad I didn’t disappoint, Soju!

When it is over

Yes, we are still friends. In many ways, a friendship is better than a relationship. Or so I keep telling myself.

» Posted By John McCrarey On 18/February/2022 @ 4:00 pm

Thanks, Brian. That last one really rings true.

» Posted By John McCrarey On 17/February/2022 @ 4:15 pm

No, nothing like that. She decided I’m not the one for her and it was time to let me go and move on to something else.

Valentine’s Day Hash

HaHa! He has been losing weight but the name is still the same. My brain on the other hand…

Pretty impressive though that you have mastered these Hash names better than me…

Enjoy your VD!

Brian, well, something is better than nothing. Or so I keep telling myself…

» Posted By John McCrarey On 15/February/2022 @ 7:44 am

Kev, nope, just the traditional VD observation here. It’s a pretty popular holiday with the locals here though. Christmas, you say? Hmm. That would be a gift…

Take it or leave it

Key, yeah I’m as surprised as anyone.

SFS, maybe so. It’s pretty is all I know for sure.

Dipping the Tibag

QP, it was not easy, but the patch is in place.

» Posted By John McCrarey On 13/February/2022 @ 9:30 am

I might be turning into the proverbial grumpy old man. And yeah, I’ve been stressing over some relationship changes. I’m going to be okay though.

I’m not the one

Tales from the Cryptic! Kind of a work in progress at the moment. I think resolution is on the horizon and I’ll be able to say more. In the meantime, I’ll try and have a bit more substance in my posts.

Seeing red…

Thanks, feeling better already! Still a good reminder to maintain as much emotional control as possible. The “cliffhanger” was not so much intentional as it was to remain discrete. But hey, if it keeps readers coming back, win-win!

The wheel in the sky keeps on turning

BW, yep. Nobody and nothing is perfect, at least in my life.

Kev, Yeah, the outdoor elements add some discomfort. But I always found indoor workouts on stairs, treadmills, and the like, boring as hell. I guess it’s a tradeoff.

Brian, I’ve been thinking about a restaurant series. We’ll see what I can do.

Things aren’t so bad

Snotty only. So far. I do understand there are some folks who would like to bloody my nose though.

» Posted By John McCrarey On 08/February/2022 @ 2:10 pm

Yeah, I can take it from a distance, but up close and personal, not so much.

Breathing slightly better through the nose, hopefully, that continues.

Ah, Friday fun

Good advice, as usual, Dave. Looking forward to those two-week millionaires taking some of the pressure off from those thirsty bargirls.

» Posted By John McCrarey On 06/February/2022 @ 10:40 am

Kev, yeah. If I go there it will need to be a protected post. Gonna let the stew simmer a bit for now.

Thanks, BW. Not drowsy more than usual so far.

Steppin’ over the line

HaHa, yeah. I’m hoping it was a coincidence that they were both females I yelled at. Hopefully, I’d have the balls to treat a man the same way. Best course is to be more respectful to everyone.

Yep, one day at a time.

I’m the middle child…older brother Keith, younger brother Gregory.

Ridged but not ruffled

C’mon, guys! If I can do it, you can do it!

Beyond a shadow of a doubt

Brian, now I just need to live up to them!

» Posted By John McCrarey On 01/February/2022 @ 2:03 pm

Thanks, guys. Just gonna keep on keeping on and see what happens. I’m telling myself I’ll be fine regardless of the ultimate outcome so enjoy the ride. This is uncharted territory for me.

My weak end

Kev, yep, the chili came out quite tasty. The muffins were just okay…not burned but not moist either. Oh well, the GF seemed to enjoy the meal, so there’s that.

Brian, yeah, the new place is only a block or two away in the 7/11 strip mall up the highway. It is small and more of a bar than a restaurant, although it will feature meat pies. The manager thing is an issue already. The GF is sometimes feels overwhelmed and I’ve been encouraging her to find someone to ease her burdens. Salary is one issue, and finding someone competent and trustworthy is another. Hopefully, they’ll figure it out.

Black Friday

Kev, yeah, I was never a big fan of the Karate Kid genre so I didn’t really pay attention to this Cobra Kai series. The GF is into it and I’m into her, so… Started reading your season 1 review, but stopped before the spoilers. I’ll go back when I’ve finished all the episodes. And yeah, I’m going to keep exercise at the top of my list, so TV is only something to fill in the gaps.

James, thanks for your support. I do enjoy maintaining this journal of my so-called life, but living life is a higher priority. Hopefully, I’m going to find a way to stay regular here. Yeah, I remembered the bridge, but the mountain was a total freakout. Couldn’t stand, screamed when I touched her, shaking like a leaf. Still impressed that she even made the effort.

As always, I really appreciate y’all joining me on these journeys!
