Finished with Fifty

HAPPY BARFDAY John! It looks like you had a good day! Good for you! I was thinking yesterday at some point “you know, I bet that production of Grease IS going to be all in Korean!” HA! The food looks delicious, though I think the Korean singing might have been too much for my ears. I know what you’re talking about.
I hope you did well with darts,…you had Tom at your place – all you had to do was knock him unconcious and you would have won by default, eh?
Seriously – again, happy birthday – you’re worthy of all the happiness that comes your way.

A social life (of sorts)

Hi John! Make sure you put on your diaper rash cream after you’ve completely dried your area off, and BEFORE you put on your Depends. And, if you think you have a window where you don’t HAVE to wear your depends, (like, you’re not going to pee everywhere) try drying out your area in front of a fan. Then re-apply your Penaten, slap on a new diaper, give yourself a bottle and a burp and head to bed.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!
But HOLY SHIT it’s hot here!

stuff about things

*Whew!* I’m so glad you finally updated! Good to hear your back and had a good time back home. Your grandaughter is SO CUTE! Is that your father with the hose? It sounds like you had a great time, even though I bet it wasn’t long enough.
Glad you’re back, John!

Greetings Earthlings!

That was COOL! Thank you for sharing your photos. I was looking at the menu from your lunch, didn’t your co-worker actually eat the “BEEP” Rip Soup? I hope so. While beef is very good in Korea, the beep is even more of a delicacy. I had beep fried rice for dinner, as a matter of fact.
You look much better now than you did when you fell on your noggin. Are you feeling well?
Is that North Korean guard real, or is he a wax figurine?

Back to normal

I’m glad you updated too! And I know what you mean about same old same old. Me closing off the screen before updating was not so much “I’ll get to it later,” but more like, “If I update how I’m really feeling, everyone will know what an asshole I am.” Something like “If you can’t say anything nice,….”
From how you described the pool rules before, it sounds impossible, but I’m glad you’re having fun! I miss darts!

Stupid is as stupid does

I think Carol’s right. You should get an MRI. And you should also get a spinal tap and three biopsies and 83 ass injections. And take two aspirins. Oh yes, and eat an apple.
I’m joking, but probably you should get checked out by a Western doc? I don’t have a lot of faith in Korean medicine. I took over 350 pills and had about 10 ass injections with my last bout of whatever it was I had (ebola?) and still can’t hear well out my right ear. I need one on those granny gramaphone things to stick in my ear canal, “what’cha say sonny?”
Make sure you’re ok. Ok?
“Get home alive” is great advice. I hope you’re alright.

Sick bed

Hey John – I too, hope you’re feeling better soon. If you’ve got anything like I had, it’s been over 3 weeks now, and I’m just getting over it!

Mid week check in

I wish I knew of a pool league around here; it sounds like fun! Did you not play pool when you were living in the States? Don’t worry, you’ll get better. Practice, practice. Do you play where you have to call the shot before you make it? That always messes me up. I like playing where fluke shots count too.
I like the name Rachel! I always get to name the kids at school, but try to stay away from “R” names, as they always end up sounding like “L” when the other kids say them. I used to have a student the previous teacher named “Richard,” and he was known as “Leechad!”
I’m glad you sound cheerier in this latest post! That Avery is definitely a smart woman. Sage advice. Take care, John!

2006

That death psychic said I was going to die the same way as you, does that mean we’ll be in the same car? Happy New Years, John. I hope 2006 rocks for both of us (and everyone else.)

Because I’m a girl

John! Are you still here at Christmastime? What are you doing? MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Regarding Canada

Hi John,
Congratulations on one year of blogging! I did read this post on the weekend, and linked to the link you mentioned. I didn’t reply, though, because I thought I might be able to come up with something insightful.
As it is, I haven’t.
Maybe it was a couple years ago when I was working in Japan, that my American co-worker and former Army captain friend asked me, “Hey Jenn, what do you think of this Paul Martin guy?”
I said, “Uhhhhh who?”
Really, I had no idea.
“The new Canadian Prime Minister,” my friend explained.
“Ohhhhhh,” I said, “For real? Man – I didn’t even know there was a election!”
If he hadn’t mentioned it, who knows how long it would have been until I knew of the new Prime Minister. I still might not know.
(As it was, I DID know of Paul Martin, from his days of being the Minister of Finance, and his announcements of how we were all going to get financially boned all the time.)
When I was in Canada, I never really knew much about what was going on. Now that I’m half way around the world I know far far less. I have had to take an interest at times in my life, but really only so when it affected my career directly, and so I was kind of forced to care. Even then, it was only surrounding social issues.
I seem to remember some campaign from 1995 during the Quebec referendum that read “my Canada includes Quebec.” I like that idea. I like Quebec.
I don’t like guns, so if they want to make some legislation about gun registration, that’s ok with me.
I’m an Ontarian and I love the West. My Canada includes the West.
I’m sorry they didn’t let you into our beautiful country back in 1974. Maybe the American-hippie back then is to, say, an American-Afghastinan these days who would probably get stopped and hassled on his way over. Maybe? I mean, at the Idaho border crossing anyhow. Maybe anywhere. What do I know?
Not a hell of a lot, I am reminded almost daily.
As for you not seeing the relevance of Canada, if I weren’t so apathetic I might be taken aback! You want relevance, I’ve got TWO words: Molson Canadian! That’s aboot all I have to say aboot that. Eh?

About last night

That WAS worth reading! I like hearing what you’re up to, and it’s much much better than blog silence. Plus, I learned the term “juicy girl.” Have a relaxing Sunday!

The reviews are in

Hi! Happy belated Thanksgiving to you too! I’m glad your gathering went well, even though I know it’s not like being back home with the family. I knew Thanksgiving for the US was coming up, but didn’t know when, so I googled it last Sunday. Now I’ll try to remember it’s the 4th Thursday in November.
What are you doing for Christmas?

More stuff about things….

You’re in the States? For good, like? Or are you having a holiday?

In other news…

Hi – I’m waiting and wondering what you decided to do about the car! Thank you so much for leaving your comment on my blog. You’re right, I am feeling purdy lonesome these days, and I appreciate the fact that someone’s relating. So thank you.
