Beyond a shadow of a doubt

Kudos to you John.
There have been numerous times in recent years when my reaction to your relationship escapades has been to shake my head.
In this instance I admire your approach.
Good luck.

Getting it right

Hi John, a little out if context, but just trying to understand where you are located now in comparison to your previous residence? Am I right you are now “in town”?

Running dry

Good succinct “back in your box” reply John, but as you allude, better to not engage with the disengaged!

Cavorting with a teenager

Congrats John!

As a regular reader of LTG, mainly driven by our lives having many parallels, I can tell you that you underplay not only what you do, but the style with which you go about it….

I for one click on every day and will continue to do so……LTG is a must read!

All the best…..

A reminder

A really poignant reminder John. Despite your “high ground” circumstance ” take care as the PI climate can be unforgiving ….

I’ll take that as a sign

Visiting Makati soon John . Is RB yr hotel of choice or have you stayed in others?

One lifetime, many lives (prologue)

This is quite intriguing John and I look forward to how you analyse your segments and the changes in terms of attitudes,, values, interests, what mattered, politics etc etc

On this day

Congrats John.

I have been following since arriving in Seoul in early 2006. Perhaps the open book approach is what attracts in that many of us relate to what is happening in your life, either in part or sometimes more.

Keep it rolling …..

In the ‘hood…

How good does that all look …..food. landscape and family.
Doesn’t get any better!
Enjoy John.

Life in these United States

“Drink” it all in John.
Nothing much different in PI, at least my part of it.
Would kill for that pulled pork plate!

Glory days

Fantastic weight loss John. From memory didn’t you start at 260? I know walking has been a key part of your weight loss strategy but you still seem to eat well and drink well ……what is the secret?

Hash tense

Jesus John ……you had me reading fast ~~

Decision day

John, had the same problem here in Los Banos with water during the week but it was fixed in about half a day when I wasn’t around. First time in 5 months I have experienced water outage which I didn’t expect …. power goes down on average once or twice a week but the generator kicks in almost straight away…..

The end of days

John, best wishes for this new chapter of your life, I too have enjoyed the life and times you depict so openly and honestly …..we can all relate and that is a secret!
I think I said once our lives have had quite distinct parallels in a number of respects, beginning well before crossing paths on the back streets of Itaewon (I arrived early 2006 and left 2013) when the ‘twon was still clinging to its real character.
The weird part is the parallels continue in that unexpectedly I have been living in PI the past 4 months on a consulting gig and tonight when you fly in I will be in terminal 1 flying out to Sydney for some home leave,,,,,,,

Look what I made!

Ahhhh…..that made me laugh. The non delete bit. Like the composition flag.
Guess Dave New’s royalty stream ceases?!

Acceptance

Hi John, no doubt in my view this is the right direction! The logic and the benefits are clear. My issue is that I have never been able to apply the approach on an effective and consistent basis and slip back into “old ways” thinking. Will be interested in how you go about making it work and the techniques you use. Good luck!

Hi John, what is the app you are using?

» Posted By Greg On 09/May/2016 @ 9:36 am

The more things change, the more they remain the same

Tick….one of the old farts! Recall Bar Episode well…….unfortunately.

» Posted By Greg On 17/April/2016 @ 7:09 pm

I pulled it off!

Looks a lotta fun John! Couldn’t help but be reminded of the old ACDC song TNT, when Bon Scott was up front ….”women to the left of me …..women to the right”

Everybody hurts

John, really sorry to hear you are going through a difficult and painful time at the moment. One thing I would say is that the current dark times will finish and you will continue the journey and be happy again. In the meantime, if I can be a little presumptuous and offer some thoughts …..be kind and gentle with yourself at the moment and don’t do too much self analysis. I am pretty sure the good of your life far outweighs any negatives anyway! Yeah, go apeshit, drink Itaewon dry for a while and then latch onto your New Years resolution……..

» Posted By Greg On 06/January/2016 @ 4:40 pm

A resolution

Well put. Reckon I will adopt that too. Let’s hope it’s a good one …..

Alone again (naturally)

Late 2012 John.

The Hamilton alley was well and truly opened up when i left. I was just reminiscing on the pathway when it was a metre+ wide and dark as hell.

No argument from me on the Korean ladies ….not a one!!

» Posted By Greg On 28/December/2015 @ 4:56 pm

Ahh, the mention of BlessU gave me a flashback to the now long disappeared dark and narrow (sometimes a bit foreboding?) pathway between Dolce Vita region to 3Alley region. Trod (stumbled) that path a few times!

I guessed what was happening in Itaewon and sadly (at least from where i sit) the progress probably wont stop. Ironically it would seem to be driving out a lot of what Koreans came to Itaewon to experience in the first place.

Glad to hear Goldfish survives in some form although like you i was quite at home in the old version.

Best wishes for 2016 John.

John, you dont know me. I have been a long term voyeur of LTG (albeit now from Sydney) finding great interest in your life and times, (yep, thats a fact) and now find myself a first time contributor. Principally and eerily due to the fact our lives have had many parallels, similar age, arrived in Seoul similar time and I suspect the same challenges in life generally and partiularly during 2006 until now.
I just wanted to say i wish you all the very best. Keep perspective and stay strong. Have a feeling you will come out the other side.
BTW, what the hell is happening in my Itaewon!? I eventually handled the demise of Bonji some years back, Scrooge was a major shock, 3Alley ……I date back to the Gunter days and thought it would always be there. ….but Goldfish…that’s the line in the sand!
Take care

Hot and Sexy World Cup fans visit Korea

You are crazy. Korean women are amongst the most beautiful of the Asians. I’m a white guy, and my little Korean girlfriend is hot as hell with a great face and flawless skin to match.
Also the best in bed that I’ve had and that compares to Chinese, Thai, Mexican, European and American.
