The weight

Well, I got down to 209.  And then I was stuck there for two weeks.  Then I started weighing in twice a day (as opposed to the once weekly routine)..  Ever since I’ve been fluctuating between 211 and 215.  Not exactly gaining, but I’ve definitely hit a wall.  I may have to say goodbye to my weekly smoothie and the peanut butter on my celery..  I so want to find my way (weigh) to 199.  Fighting!

  1. Wow. The 209-215 range is an achievement in itself. Going from 209 to 199 will mean losing mostly water, I suspect, plus maybe a bit of adipose. You’re moving into badass territory.

    I know you’ve written before about reducing your middle. While “spot reduction” is a myth, you can nevertheless engage in Pilates to strengthen your core. Once your core muscles tighten up, the middle will reduce a bit, which is great as long as you keep in mind that you’re not seeing fat-reduction—you’re seeing only muscle-tightening. In any event, core exercises will produce a cosmetic effect.

    Of course, if you strengthen even more muscle groups, you’ll gain muscle mass and increase your basal metabolism, which will indeed lead to more weight loss. Strength training may be how you’ll break through the plateau.

  2. i have the answer my friend-pole dancing! that’s right. talk to your landlord about installing a pole in your living room. pole dancing is great for muscular endurance and strength and you can burn up to 400 calories per hour. advanced pole dancers up to 700. as an added benefit, if your retirement plans include the PI you can supplement your retirement income with a gig in angeles city. you can thank me later. peace out.

    I think you are right about adding some strength training to my routine. Got access to a free gym on base so there is no excuse.

    Soju, my Korean is not good enough to explain about pole dancing to the landlord. But once I get in shape I’ll definitely consider being a “juicy boy” in the PI…

  4. In P.I. big bellied chubby guy is more attractive to middle aged women because of a father-figure-well educated -experienced -type than a six-pack-abs-guy next-door type who looks egoistic…health wise thinner is healthier …

  5. I eat a lot of calories Billy, just try and avoid carbs. I don’t let myself feel hungry.

    Widow, it is true that I was more popular with the gals in the PI but this is about being healthier and feeling better about myself. I don’t expect I’ll be seeing six pack abs anytime soon. Just want to get rid of the keg!
