An American tradition

I’ve got more to say on what’s going on in America these days, including a response to commenter Kevin (see post below).

These are definitely interesting times in the USA.  I’m heartened that so many folks seem to be getting in touch with their American heritage…

  1. Kevin: 1st I assume you have not seen the same style poster of Bush in Vanity Fair (circa 2007/2008) The Bush poster is a bit more to character (movie version evil), than the Obama one. There are also posters of Bush as a vampire biting Lady Liberty. However, the Obama poster does speak to racism, with the more predominant white face, and of course socialism. So yes that is a double standard (attack one but not the other). You speak of old (middle age) white guys in jean shorts which goes light-years to show your own prejudice. You are basically correct, at the moment, about taxes. As the Bush tax cuts expire next year the middle class is going to be hit very hard. 80% of people polled say they do not want this particular health-care bill. 80% say they do not want cap & trade as it’s written. That is a majority. The liberals have used protests (sit-ins, out right anarchy) since the 60’s. Yet now if conservatives say anything it’s racist or worse anti-American. Isn’t that what you have been saying for the last 8 years. Aig is now government controlled. GM & Chrysler are now government owned. Is that not socialism? The “not the majority” are the people who are going to shoulder this deficit. It’s easy for the liberals to cast stones but, not so easy for them to be thrown back. Bush/Darth-Cheney have been more vilified than any administration in my memory. Liberals said we went to war over oil. Just where is that oil? Last I looked it’s over $65 a barrel with gas in the $2-4 range. Liberals say that Bush/Cheney lied about the intelligence (WMD) leading into the Iraq war. Yet Bill/Hillary Clinton have stated they saw the same reports. It is estimated (conservatively) that during Hussein’s 30 year reign that he murdered/killed over a million people. Just how large of a WMD does a free society have to witness before they take a stand? I could go on all day pointing out things you don’t see. Google Ira Einhorn, the author of global warming, Arlen Specter was his lawyer and was his attorney fighting extradition back to the US. Oh, they found his girl friends body in a trunk after he fled to France. Needless to say, him, Abbey Hoffman, Ayers and many more were community activist/protesters. Yet, you again, attack conservatives for voicing any dissent. The Chicago Climate Exchange, the only corporation in the US certified for all 6 green-house gases, was funded by the “Woods Foundation”. Who was on the board? Obama and Ayers. Yes, that Ayers, that shared offices with Obama for 2 years. The same Ayers that kicked off Obama’s political career at his home with a social. The same Ayers that lives in the same neighborhood. “Oh, I don’t know him. He was just some guy that lived in the area”. Who is on the board of the CCX right now? All members who are affiliated with Clinton and Gore. Your anger is misguided. This congress is passing legislation they don’t even read. All in the interest of creating a one party system. What is a one party system? Socialism. Again, I could go on and on. But this is not the forum. LTG is “La Dolce Vita” (The Sweet Life). Do a little more research. You might understand a bit more. Give-em hell at the darts….John

  2. Frank you clearly spend a lot of time reading blogs. The Bush vampire thing was not a poster but a drawing in The Village Voice. How big of an audience do you really think that publication has? Someone had to go looking for that one and the Vanity Fair Joker Bush. The question is why go looking? Obiviously to counter the hoopla over the Obama poster. However the hoopla over the Obama poster was created because it looks racist and the creator has remained anonymous. His or her anonymity created a lack of context allowing the viewer to see and interpret at will. Perhaps that was the intent but more likely the creator just didn’t realize that folks wouldn’t make the Joker connection immediately.

No I don’t spend a lot of time reading blogs but did a quick google of things in your response. I was really confused by the Chicago Climate Exchange comment and after googling it -yep that are the only American company certified to handle all 6 gas exhanges-I am still confused as what this is suppose to prove.

What it doesn’t prove is that Kevin’s response was off base. I didn’t see anything in his response that sounded angry. You however come off sounding a bit like a conspiracy nut.

I’m not endorsing the new health care plan but I am intelligent enough to know that the issue of health care must be addressed. It is definitely adversely affecting the economy. If I took the time to attend one of the townhall meetings and the speaker was interupted over and over again as he tried to explain to me what the plan entails I would be pissed. Not because of my political affiliation but because its rude.

Its called the Obama health care plan but in reality he has left it to Congress to develop the plan. Republicans and Democrats are working on it. Let them explain it without interuption. Allow the people of America to engage in dialogue on the subject and make an informed decision. Whether these are people from the community or a group bussed in by the Republican party or a lobby group is really beside the point. Its more the fact that they are interfering with the exchange of information.
